Dogs of War

The 1995 squad was a motley crew of journey men, and some may say has-beens. Graham Stuart , Joe Parkinson & Paul Rideout are not names which would light up a room. Then we had the so-called has-beens (as branded by papers back in 1995) like Limpar & Neville Southall.

But Joe Royle whipped up a team of spirit and passion and went on to win the FA Cup in 1995. We were even favorites to finish top 3 in 1996/97, but it all went wrong and we end up sacking Royle and fighting for our lives on the last day of the season against Wimbledon in 1997.

Above is a photo of the team before the 1996/97 team. A notable addition to that team after the 1995 victory is Andrei Kanchelskis. Note also the young Duncan Ferguson sitting on the right.

Yup. that was the last year we won anything. The 'Dogs of War' we were called then, maybe we need to call ourselves something on the same line to win something this time?
